Soudan: La CPI demande aux USA d’arrêter Bachir s’il se rend à l’Onu

CPILa Cour pénale internationale a demandé mercredi aux Etats-Unis d’arrêter le président soudanais Omar Hassan al Bachir au cas où ce dernier, recherché par la CPI pour son rôle dans les exactions au Darfour, mette le pied sur le sol américain lors de la prochaine assemblée générale annuelle des Nations unies à New York.

La veille, Khartoum avait annoncé avoir déposé une demande de visa américain pour le président Omar Hassan al Bachir. Les Etats-Unis, qui ne sont pas signataires du Statut de Rome et ne sont donc pas tenus légalement de coopérer avec la CPI, ont confirmé avoir reçu semblable requête en la qualifiant de « déplorable ».

La CPI a délivré en 2009 et 2010 deux mandats internationaux d’arrestation visant le chef de l’Etat soudanais pour génocide, crimes de guerre et crimes contre l’humanité.

Khartoum rejette ces accusations en estimant que les allégations de meurtres à grande échelle sont exagérées et refuse de reconnaître la légitimité de la cour de La Haye qui ferait partie, selon le Soudan, d’un complot occidental contre lui.
