Ethiopie: Addis-Abeba accueille le Forum de l’AGOA 2013

Drapeau EthiopieLa session ministérielle pour l’année 2013 du Forum sur la Loi sur la croissance et les possibilités économiques en Afrique (AGOA) doit se tenir du 12 au 13 août à Addis-Abeba, Ethiopie.

La réunion sera le point culminant de la 12ème édition du Forum, qui a débuté vendredi par la session consacrée au secteur privé, la société civile et à African Women Entrepreneurs Programme (AWEP), qui se tient simultanément avec la foire commerciale organisée par le CCA, (Conseil des entreprises privées sur l’Afrique CCA).

Le 12ème forum de l’AGOA, qui a pour thème « la transformation durable grâce au commerce et à la technologie », enregistre la participation de hauts responsables de l’administration américaine, de ministres africains, mais aussi d’hommes d’affaires et d’acteurs africains et américains de la société civile.

L’AGOA permet à 39 Etats d’Afrique sub-saharienne éligibles d’exporter des produits gratuitement vers les États-Unis.

Selon le Département d’État américain, le total des exportations africaines dans le cadre de l’AGOA a plus que quadruplé depuis la naissance de ce programme.

En 2012, les pays éligibles à l’AGOA ont exporté près de 35 milliards de dollars en produits vers les Etats-Unis ,en vertu de l’AGOA et de ses dispositions liées au Système de préférences généralisées (SPG).

L’AGOA prévoit des mesures incitatives pour les pays africains qui améliorent leur climat des investissements, réduisent la corruption, respectent les droits de l’homme et des droits du travail ainsi que l’Etat de droit, améliorent leurs infrastructures et harmonisent leurs normes commerciales afin de les aider à devenir plus compétitifs sur le marché international.

Le Forum de l’AGOA 2013 mettra en lumière les progrès réalisé depuis son lancement en 2000 et l’ouverture d’un dialogue sur le futur de la coopération économique et des échanges entre les Etats-Unis et l’Afrique sub-saharienne.

Ces discussions permettront à l’administration du président Obama de travailler avec le Congrès et d’autres acteurs sur l’extension de l’AGOA après le 30 septembre 2015, date d’expiration de cette loi.
