Benshangul _ Tigré - athlètes éthiopiens - Rio 2016Le jeune Robel Kiros Habte s’est présenté mardi aux épreuves de natation (100 m nage libre) et a fini bon dernier. Mais ce sportif au corps atypique pour cette discipline a surtout été la cible de cruelles moqueries sur la Toile.

Le body-shaming, qui consiste à se moquer du physique d’une personne car elle ne correspond pas à une norme ou aux standards de beauté actuels, n’a apparemment pas de sexe. On oublie en effet souvent que les hommes aussi peuvent en être victime. L’éthiopien, Robel Kiros Habte, en est la triste preuve. Porteur du drapeau à la cérémonie d’ouverture, ce nageur de 24 ans a représenté son pays aux Jeux Olympiques de Rio à l’épreuve du 100 m nage libre.

Et alors qu’ils ont découvert son corps et sa performance mardi 9 août lors des qualifications, les internautes ont rapidement oublié que sa simple participation à cette compétition force le respect (très peu d’athlètes ont finalement cette chance). Le jeune homme a dû subir les moqueries abjectes des Twittos qui l’ont rebaptisé « Robel La Baleine » (Robel The Whale, pour la rime en anglais).

les éthiopiens ont fait la grimace, en cause la parenté du nageur, qui s’avère être le fils du président de la fédération éthiopienne de natation, Kiros Habte. Des liens qui ont évidemment fait pointer des soupçons de favoritisme. Face à tant d’injustice, les éthiopiens ont ainsi décidé de bouder la participation du sportif lors des JO.
